# Chelsea reportedly close to Calleri deal

Chelsea are reportedly close to completing a deal for Boca Juniors striker, Jonathan Calleri according to Italian outlet, [Calcio Mercato](https://www.calciomercato.com/news/calleri-in-italia-nei-prossimi-giorni-ma-il-chelsea-resta-avanti-191739).

The report suggests that the striker will receive an Italian passport in the coming days, which means Chelsea will not have to go through the process of applying for a work permit.

A deal for the striker is thought to be worth in the region of £9.8m.

Because the twenty-two-year-old has yet to play for his native Argentina, the deal could have been complicated for Chelsea to complete.

Jose Mourinho’s former side, Inter Milan are also thought to be interested in the striker so the Premier League champions will have to act quickly to conclude any possible deal.

This news follows a tweet from Italian journalist Fabrizio Romano, who said the striker is in talks with Chelsea and could join as early as January, but is likely to head out on loan.
