# Cahill signs new four-year deal

Big news coming out of Chelsea tonight, the club have [announced](https://www.chelseafc.com/news/latest-news/2015/12/new-deal-for-cahill.html?extcmp=SOCIA_TW_ENG_NEWS_CONTRACT) that Gary Cahill has signed a new four-year deal with the Premier League champions.

The new contract will see the England international at Stamford Bridge until 2019. The news breaks just days after reports linking Cahill with a new contract, with his 30th birthday approaching.

Cahill said:

> I’m really pleased to commit my future to Chelsea and it’s great the club has put their faith in me. I have achieved a lot here and I hope I can keep on learning, helping the team and lifting trophies over the next four years.

Chelsea have a stern policy when it comes to handing contracts to players over the age of 30. Recent [reports](https://readchelsea.com/2015/11/26/cahill-ivanovic-await-new-contract-terms/) also linked Branislav Ivanovic with a move away from the club in summer, so with Cahill agreeing his deal now, this could be a sign of things to come for the right-back.

Since joining from Bolton in 2012, Cahill has enjoyed a fantastic Chelsea career so far. He has managed to lift every club honour available to him.

The 29-year-old has made 15 appearances in all competitions this season and will hope to continue his good form, with Chelsea keeping clean sheets in the last three games.
