The Premier League champions are thought to be ready to go head to head with Juventus and Inter Milan for the young midfielder’s signature.

Silva is one of the most highly rated youngsters from Ligue 1. He has caught the eye of many since joining on loan from Benfica in August 2014. His move to the French side was made permanent in January this season.

The 21-year-old is now at around £21m and isn’t short of suitors. He has already made five senior appearances for his native Portugal.

Reports suggest that Jose Mourinho is very keen on the player and would like to secure a deal before any Serie A sides come in for the player.

Silva has featured 16 times for Monaco this season and has managed to score three league goals this season, with Monaco sitting fourth in Ligue 1.
