# Henry: Chelsea players should wear the shirt with pride

Former Arsenal striker and now Sky Sports pundit, Thierry Henry says Chelsea players should wear the club’s shirt with pride.

According to the [Mirror](https://www.mirror.co.uk/sport/football/news/thierry-henry-calls-slumping-chelsea-7020197), Henry said, speaking at a Facebook event in London, Henry revealed he thinks the current crop of players at Chelsea should also be to blame for the current predicament they find themselves in.

He said:

> People are having a go at Mourinho, whether you like him or not, that’s a different story. People are saying: ‘Did he lose the dressing room? Did he not? Is it the tactics? Is it the right players? Is it \[Kurt\] Zouma? Is it \[John\] Terry? Should he start with this or that?’

After a 2-1 defeat away to Leicester, Chelsea find themselves in 16th position, just one point off the relegation places in the Premier League.

Henry added:

> For me, Chelsea having a bad season is finishing fifth. But they have lost nine games so far. Nine games. I never thought I would be saying that and we are not even half way through the season. I just don’t get it.

Following the defeat, various [reports](https://www.telegraph.co.uk/sport/football/teams/chelsea/12052560/Chelsea-start-search-for-Jose-Mourinho-replacement.html) have emerged that stated Roman Abramovich had called an ’emergency meeting’ to discuss the manager’s future. Sky Sports News have today [reported](https://twitter.com/SkySportsNewsHQ/status/677085073963884544) that these reports were false.

> It seems like it’s difficult for them and yes, you can have a go at the boss, but I also think you can have a massive go at the players at the moment. Both of them are in a situation that I don’t know what it is like because I’ve never been in that situation like that.

> Cesc said it, we had bad seasons at Arsenal, but we managed to finish high up. But I think it is time for the players to be professional about it — where is your pride?

Chelsea welcome Sunderland to Stamford Bridge this Saturday in what you could label as a ‘six-pointer’ for both sides.

A win for the Blues on the weekend could see them move up to 14th, depending on other results.
