# Newcastle target loan deal for Remy

Loic Remy’s former side, Newcastle United are reportedly looking to sign the striker on loan in January, according to French media outlet [Le10 Sport](https://www.le10sport.com/football/mercato/exclu-mercato-lille-le-losc-tente-le-coup-pour-loic-remy-214693).

Steve McClaren is desperate to bolster his attacking options, and Remy, who scored 14 goals in 26 games during his time on Tyneside, has emerged as a potential target.

A permanent move for the Frenchman wouldn’t be plausible in January, as he is currently tied down to a lengthy contract with the Blues.

Since joining Chelsea last year, Remy hasn’t managed to force his way into Jose Mourinho’s team, with substitute appearances a common occurrence for the 28-year-old. Despite the striker scoring regularly when called upon.

With Chelsea enduring a horrible run of form, many fans have called for Remy to replace the out-of-form Diego Costa in the team’s starting eleven, but to no avail.

A move for the former Toon fan favourite could depend on the futures of Papiss Cisse and Emmanuel Riviere.

A return to Tyneside for Remy would undoubtedly please the Geordie faithful and the prospect of him forming a partnership with Aleksandar Mitrovic or Ayoze Perez could ease the pressure on McClaren.
