# Ake won’t be returning to Chelsea in January

Nathan Ake has revealed he doesn’t think he will be returning to Chelsea in January despite the appointment of the new interim manager, Guus Hiddink.

According to the [Standard](https://www.standard.co.uk/sport/football/watfords-nathan-ake-not-keen-to-return-to-chelsea-a3142641.html?), Ake revealed he is very happy at Watford and doesn’t feel the need to return to Stamford Bridge early, in the hope of some game time under the new manager.

Ake was one of a number of youth players that failed to get regular game time at Chelsea under Jose Mourinho, despite being held in very high regard.

The Dutchman sealed a season-long loan move at the start of the season, as well as signing a new long-term deal at Chelsea. The left-back has impressed during his time at Watford.

Ake said:

> I don’t think that because the manager changes, suddenly I have a chance to play, I think it’s just a matter of yourself, how you’re playing, how you develop, and if you’re able to come back next season and perform.

He added:

> It’s difficult to say. Of course, I’m happy here because I play every time, and I think that’s going to be the case if I stay here. I think I’ll still be here in February.

He is slowly becoming an important member of their first-team, he even scored against Liverpool during the club’s 3-0 victory this weekend. Chelsea fans will be hoping to see more of Ake next season.
