# Matic: Mourinho reports were written by idiots

Nemanja Matic says that reports that claimed Chelsea players had a poor relationship with Jose Mourinho were made up by ‘idiots’, according to [ESPN](https://www.espnfc.co.uk/chelsea/story/2767382/nemanja-matic-denies-rift-with-chelsea-boss-jose-mourinho).

Following the sacking of Jose Mourinho, reports have emerged that suggest that ‘[player power](https://www.skysports.com/football/news/11668/10104336/john-terry-denies-chelsea-player-power-forced-out-jose-mourinho)’ played a decisive role in the decision for the Chelsea board to sack Mourinho following the defeat to Premier League leaders, Leicester City.

A number of Chelsea players have come under scrutiny following an impressive performance at home to Sunderland with Steve Holland in charge. Various Chelsea players put in solid performances, uncharacteristic of many this season, with the new interim manager, Guus Hiddink watching from the stands.

Matic said:

> I’ve worked with Mourinho over two beautiful years, so for me he is always linked with good memories. I have read several times I think that I had a bad relationship with him, but it is likely to have been written by some idiots. I talked to Mourinho about those allegations and we just laughed about it.

Matic was a player that suffered from the wrath of ‘the special one’ after he dropped the midfielder following a run of poor performances, along with fellow central midfielder, Cesc Fabregas.

The Serbian added:

> I tried at every training session, in every game, and he was very appreciative. That’s why I think that the journalist who wrote that I would not play for Mourinho was a real idiot.

The midfielder, along with the rest of the Chelsea squad, will be hoping to get back on track when they face Watford on Boxing Day.
