# Drogba wants Chelsea return according to his mentor

Amid reports of a potential return to Chelsea, former Blues striker Didier Drogba’s mentor Guy Lacombe has revealed that his client is hopeful of a move back to the club in a coaching role.

Drogba, currently under contract with MLS outfit Montreal Impact, has been the subject of many rumours in the last few months regarding a return to the club, not as a player; but as a coach. Lacombe told the [BBC](https://www.bbc.co.uk/programmes/p03fd0fv):

> We spoke via text message and he (Drogba) told me that he wants to become a coach alongside Guus Hiddink. Of course I really hope it goes well for him and I don’t have any concerns about him, because he’s someone who is very intelligent and very determined in everything he does.

Last month, Chelsea’s interim boss Guus Hiddink [confirmed](https://www.dailymail.co.uk/sport/football/article-3368270/Chelsea-interim-boss-Guus-Hiddink-hopes-bring-club-legend-Didier-Drogba-Stamford-Bridge-No-2.html) that the Ivorian forward was in talks with the Blues, however, insisted that it was not down to him to make a decision on Drogba’s future as he was, and still is, under contract with the Canadian club.

> If I had advice for him it would also be start with a youth team, as well as having an eye on the first team alongside Hiddink. Then he will see all the problems a coach can have. And yes, I believe he has the quality to become a great leader and manager who can really motivate players.

As a result of the player’s and Chelsea’s close relationship and love for each other, it should come as no surprise to see the two wanting a reunion for a third time in a matter of years, however, a new role for Drogba could be one that will be interesting to watch.
