# Luiz: Costa welcome at PSG

Former Chelsea defender, David Luiz has begun the mind games as the meeting between Paris Saint-Germain and the Blues in the Champions League.

According to the [Mirror](https://www.irishmirror.ie/sport/soccer/transfer-news/chelsea-striker-diego-costa-urged-7201266), Luiz has urged Diego Costa to leave the Premier League champions and join the French side, saying he’d be welcome at the Parc des Princes.

> Diego is one of the most clinical strikers in Europe, he would be a welcome addition to any team. I think PSG have made their intent clear over the last three or four seasons, that we only add the best player. If Diego decides he has had enough of England and wants a new challenge, of course he would be welcome here.

Despite their on-field clashes, Luiz spoke very highly of Costa and even admitted that he would love to go to dinner with the striker.

> Diego and myself have had our clashes on the field, but you must understand there are two Diego’s. On the field he is physical, he is confrontational, he will get in your face, that is part of his game. Off the field he is a good friend, one of the nicest guys you can meet, somebody I would go to dinner with.

The Spaniard has been in-form under Guus Hiddink, scoring five goals in as many games. Ever since his arrival from Atletico Madrid, he has been linked with moves away from Stamford Bridge.

The former Blue added:

> We have two very big games coming up against Chelsea. With them having such a poor season in the league they will be even more motivated to do well in Europe. I welcome two big battles with Diego. I am sure they will be physical, but both games will end in a hug.

Reports have suggested that the striker is [unsettled](https://www.express.co.uk/sport/football/615880/Chelsea-Diego-Costa-Barcelona-boss-Luis-Enrique-transfer-gossip) at Chelsea and has always struggled to adapt, with their incoming transfer ban, Costa’s former side, Atletico are thought to be considering an early [move](https://readchelsea.com/2016/01/18/atletico-eye-prompt-deal-for-costa-amid-transfer-ban/) to bring the striker back to the Vincente Calderon.
