Chelsea will be a tougher opposition without Jose Mourinho at their helm according to Paris Saint-Germain midfielder, Thiago Motta.

According to the Mirror, the Italian midfielder told French radio that since Mourinho’s departure, the Premier League champions have completely changed their style of play.

Motta, who worked under Mourinho whilst they were both at Inter Milan said:

They have changed the way they play. When we played them in the last two seasons, they were a counter-attacking team who did not want the ball. Now, they try to play. It will be difficult.

When Chelsea face off against the French side in this season’s Champions League, it will be the third meeting between the two sides in this competition for as many years.

Chelsea also faced the Ligue 1 champions during pre-season, that game finished 1-1 after 90 minutes, the Blues went on to win on penalties.

Since the special one’s exit, Chelsea are unbeaten under their new interim manager, Guus Hiddink. However, despite the improved run of form, Chelsea are yet to seriously climb away from the bottom half of the table.

The Blues currently find themselves 13th in the Premier League, just seven points above the dreaded relegation zone.
