# Diego Costa suffers training ground injury

Chelsea striker Diego Costa suffered a broken nose in a training session on Thursday after a clash of heads with a youth team player.

As reported by [The Telegraph](https://www.telegraph.co.uk/sport/football/teams/chelsea/12154194/Diego-Costa-breaks-his-nose-on-Chelsea-youth-team-players-head.html), Costa will be fit to play against Newcastle United on Saturday evening and he will become the latest Chelsea player to play in a protective mask.

Current squad members Cesar Azpilicueta, Cesc Fabregas, Nemanja Matic, John Terry and Kurt Zouma have all been forced to play in masks in the recent past after suffering facial injuries, and Costa will become the latest Chelsea player to follow suit.

Costa is fortunate to not have suffered more serious damage as a broken nose can lead to breathing difficulties that could have forced him to miss the clash with Newcastle.

Thankfully, Costa will be fit to play and Chelsea will be hoping he continue his recent run of good form. He’s scored six goals in his last seven league appearances.
