Bundesliga side prepare £11.9m bid for Chelsea star
Borussia Monchengladbach are thought to be preparing a £11.9m bid for young on-loan Chelsea defender, Andreas Christensen at the end of the season.
According to the Express, the German club’s sporting director, Max Eberl has made his intentions clear about the side’s wishes to sign the player on a permanent deal.
Eberl told Kicker:
Our intention is to try and get into talks with Chelsea in the summer, Andreas fulfils everything we’ve seen in him. And we are delighted that we were able to take him on loan without any ifs and buts.
The 19-year-old has been a first-team regular in the heart of the Monchengladbach defence this season, which has seen him come up against the likes of Manchester City and Italian champions, Juventus in the Champions League.
It has been reported that three Premier League teams, including Liverpool, are keeping an eye on the defender’s development in the Bundesliga. His rising talent has not gone unnoticed.
It is thought to be unlikely that Christensen will leave Chelsea permanently, the defender is held in very high regard at Stamford Bridge by Chelsea officials. Chelsea sold Thorgan Hazard to the German side but did insert a future buy-back clause.
