# Former blue Damian Duff fears turning into Kim Kardashian

Former Chelsea favourite Damian Duff fears he may catch a case of the Kardashian’s after retiring from professional football.

In an interview with the [Irish Times](https://www.irishtimes.com/sport/soccer/damien-duff-i-don-t-want-to-turn-into-kim-kardashian-1.2568026#.VuKNOTCor_o.twitter), Duff revealed that although he’s enjoying travelling the world, he wants to feel like he’s ‘earned’ the right to do so.

The former Republic of Ireland striker said:

> I guess I can jump on a plane with the kids whenever I want and that is nice. But me, being hard-working and honest, I’d like to feel as if I’ve earned a holiday or a trip.

He then went on to draw an interesting comparison with celebrity Kim Kardashian, who hit headlines herself this week after posting a controversial photo on to her Instagram.

> I don’t want to turn into… I was going to compare myself with Kim Kardashian or someone there; a little socialite or something, off doing these things. I like to earn nice things or even a weekend away.

Since retiring from football in December last year, Duff has returned to where it all began, in an attempt to keep busy. He’s taken up a youth coaching role at Blackburn Rovers, where he made his professional debut, but has been trying to decide whether he wants a permanent job in the future.

> I’m doing the coaching down with Rovers, that’s two nights a week then we’ve a game on Saturday.

He also discussed the idea of punditry but admitted he was never a massive fan of the job.

> I tried RTE (Raidio Teilifís Eireann) a couple of weeks ago although that’s probably rich coming from me… I never liked punditry, I never liked pundits but at the same time you’re sitting at home and you need to go and try something, I guess.

The 37-year-old also showed his admiration for his, and Chelsea’s former boss Claudio Ranieri, as Leicester’s run at the top of the Premier League continues.

> He’s a great guy. No doubt he’ll have them all working hard; that’s what he did at Chelsea. This time last year with a similar squad I think they were third or fourth from bottom. Listen, it’s incredible. He’s an amazing guy, he brought me to Chelsea, so I love him and I want him to do well.

During his time with the Blues, Duff played 125 games and scored 19 goals, and became a fan favourite around Stamford Bridge, where he won two Premier League titles with Chelsea.
