# Mourinho wants to take Chelsea star to Man United

Former Chelsea manager Jose Mourinho, now in charge at Manchester United, is looking to raid his former club and sign midfielder Nemanja Matic, according to respected journalist [Gianluca Di Marzio](https://gianlucadimarzio.com/news-cat/manchester-united-dalla-chiusura-per-bailly-a-matic-le-ultime-sul-mercato-dei-red-devils/) .

According to the report, United have made contact with the Blues about the possibility of a transfer.

On the surface, it seems strange to think that Chelsea would consider selling to a rival but they have done so before.

Also, the links to both Leicester City’s N’Golo Kante and Roma’s Radja Nainggolan suggest that new boss Antonio Conte is looking to refresh his midfield options and therefore it’s not inconceivable that he could let the Serbian go.

Matic was a key member of Jose Mourinho’s side that won the Premier League title two seasons ago, but he struggled for form last year, although he isn’t the only Blues’ player who that could be said about.

If Conte is happy to let Matic leave, he will most likely wait until he has a replacement in the door at Chelsea before sanctioning a sale.
