# Napoli defender expects talks with Chelsea

According to [James Benge of the Evening Standard](https://www.standard.co.uk/sport/football/kalidou-koulibaly-to-chelsea-napoli-defender-expects-talks-with-antonio-conte-soon-a3267216.html), Napoli defender Kalidou Koulibaly is prepared for talks with new Chelsea boss Antonio Conte, as the centre-back prepares to leave life in the Serie A.

The wishlist for centre-backs at Stamford Bridge in starting to grow. In there at the moment includes Everton’s [John Stones](https://www.independent.co.uk/sport/football/transfers/john-stones-transfer-news-everton-to-block-move-as-chelsea-man-city-and-manchester-united-hover-a7070351.html), [Leonardo Bonucci](https://www.express.co.uk/sport/football/667668/Chelsea-transfer-news-Leonardo-Bonucci-Antonio-Conte) from Juventus and also Napoli’s Koulibaly.

It was reported that the West London side were also interested in Roma’s [Antonio Rudiger](https://talksport.com/football/chelsea-transfer-news-antonio-rudiger-suffers-devastating-knee-injury-end-talk-ps20m-blues), but the defender has suffered a severe knee injury that could rule him out for the whole of next season.

24-year-old Koulibaly, who has three years remaining on his current deal in Naples, received much praise throughout last season for his consistent progression.

> I’ll make a choice that is most favourable to me, not only financially but also on pitch.

The defender had hoped that last season’s efforts would earn him a new deal at the Stadio San Paolo, but with nothing being received, the Senegal international is preparing to depart.
