# Lazio line up £13million move for Baba Rahman

Ghanaian left-back Baba Rahman looks set to be offered the chance to leave Stamford Bridge, after reports from [The Mirror](https://www.mirror.co.uk/sport/football/transfer-news/lazio-lining-up-13million-bid-8294763) state that he is to be the subject of a £13million bid from the Italian side, Lazio.

Rahman has seen his game time dwindle at Chelsea, as a combination of inconsistent performances and the ever-reliable presence of Cesar Azpilicueta.

Chelsea would make a noticeable loss on their investment, having bought him from Augsburg for £21 million just last summer.

Brought in as a replacement for Atletico Madrid left-back Filipe Luis, who also didn’t play much during his stint at the club. Rahman has been similarly maligned by both Jose Mourinho and the recently departed Guus Hiddink during his first season at the club.

With his high-profile mistake at Southampton, only just resurrected by a late Branislav Ivanovic winner. He was consequently substituted at half-time in that game – as a result of his mistake, and then manager Guus Hiddink later went on to [say](https://www.standard.co.uk/sport/football/chelseas-guus-hiddink-i-wont-make-excuses-for-baba-rahman-i-took-him-off-because-of-error-a3190791.html):

> I won’t make excuses for Baba Rahman – I took him off because of (an) error.

Still, only 21 years of age Rahman has plenty of time to mature and grow as a footballer, but after a rare season of torment for the dethroned English champions there are doubts over whether there is time for Rahman to improve his game, as Roman Abramovich looks for an instant return.

But at Lazio, the left-back may find he’s given the time he needs in a starring role for the Biancazzurri, with the ageing Stefan Radu set to take a back seat in the face of young, burgeoning potential.
