# Oscar impressed by Conte’s first training session

Chelsea midfielder Oscar has been impressed by Antonio Conte’s first training session as the new Chelsea head coach, according to [Get West London](https://www.getwestlondon.co.uk/sport/football/football-news/antonio-contes-tactical-chelsea-training-11612709).

Conte arrived at the club’s training ground in Cobham yesterday morning to begin his tenure in charge of the Blues, following his Euro 2016 campaign with Italy.

Oscar and his fellow teammates greeted the new boss before beginning preparations for the new season, and the Brazilian was immediately impressed by the Italian’s tactics, after a session of passing and possession drills before Conte began to introduce his style of play to the players.

> I really liked it and I think the team are really going to improve a lot this season. He’s very clear about what he wants from us. He spoke to everyone and it was very tactical with some good movements from the players.

The players had been told to prepare for double fitness sessions in the coming weeks as Conte looks to put his foot down with his new side.

And though Oscar admits training has been hard following his summer off, the Brazilian is keen to work hard in pre-season and is excited to start playing once again.

> I missed playing and I’m glad to be back. We are all training really hard and looking forward to the pre-season matches.

He continued:

> Training has been very hard because it was a long break for me, but that’s what pre-season is all about, getting fit for the matches.

Conte’s training regime and playing style came as no surprise to Oscar, however, after the midfielder followed Italy’s progress in Euro 2016.

And the Brazilian, who endured a rather inconsistent campaign last season and will be looking to cement a place in the team under Conte, thought Italy were unfortunate to lose against Germany in the quarter-finals.

> I watched a lot of football during my time off. I saw the Copa America, Euros and some Brazilian matches. I was impressed with Antonio Conte’s Italy at the Euros, they played very well and were unlucky to lose on penalties to a good Germany team.

Conte will hold his first press conference as Chelsea manager on Thursday afternoon.
