# Besiktas set to turn to Loic Remy if Mario Gomez deal fails

Chelsea striker Loic Remy is set to become a target for Turkish club Besiktas if talks with German international Mario Gomez fall through, according to the [Evening Standard](https://www.standard.co.uk/sport/football/chelsea-transfer-news-besiktas-will-turn-to-loic-remy-if-mario-gomez-talks-stall-a3299006.html).

Besiktas are attempting to secure Gomez on a permanent deal, after he scored 26 goals for them whilst on loan from parent club Fiorentina – en-route to them winning the league. But with the two sides having yet to agree on a fee for the player, Turkish champions Besiktas have decided to turn their attentions to Frenchman Remy.

The striker has seen injuries and substantial competition limit him to just nine Premier League starts during his time in West-London.

But despite the competition from fiery marksman Diego Costa and the subsequent injury problems, Remy has still managed to score 12 goals in two seasons – most notably helping Chelsea secure another Premier League title with vital, match-winning goals against Hull City and Stoke City, in the absence of Costa.

Remy has previously [expressed](https://www.dailymail.co.uk/sport/football/article-3697255/Loic-Remy-desperate-injury-woes-begin-new-page-Chelsea-boss-Antonio-Conte.html) his desire to stay and prove himself at Stamford Bridge, with the arrival of enigmatic Italian coach Antonio Conte helping sway the Frenchman.

But the new signing of Belgian striker Michy Batshuayi may well mean that Remy is surplus to requirements at Chelsea. With the Italian also looking at Spanish forward Alvaro Morata to provide competition, after Real Madrid re-signed the player this summer.
