# Kante hoping for swift European return at Chelsea

New signing N’Golo Kante has revealed why he chose to move to Chelsea and what he expects to achieve at the club – in an exclusive interview with the [official Chelsea magazine](https://www.chelseafc.com/news/latest-news/2016/08/conte-and-kante-aim-high-in-new-mag.html).

Kante had an impressive debut against West Ham last Monday, as Chelsea secured a late victory over their East London rivals. The Frenchman completed 54 out of his 57 passes, completing all 29 of his first-half passes, as he and Nemanja Matic went about dictating the tempo of the game.

His performance against the Hammers harked back to those that handed Leicester City the most unprecedented title in football and quite possibly sporting history. As a result, Kante spoke about how hard he found it to leave the Foxes – because of their extraordinary achievement.

> It was a little bit difficult because what we did last year with Leicester was a very, very big achievement. But now it’s a new step for me and I hope good things will come.

The industrious midfielder then revealed how Antonio Conte played a big role in persuading him to join the Italian at Stamford Bridge – outlining his training methods as a key ploy.

> I chose Chelsea because I spoke with the manager here and when I did that, I realised the capacity of the manager and that is why I made my decision. Now I have discovered him and discovered how he is training, how he is, and what I can say is he is passionate and a hard worker. He likes to communicate, to make me understand his idea of football here. He said he knows how I play and he thinks I can be a good player for his team and that’s why I’ve come here. And, of course, I like Premier League football and that is why I decided to stay in this league.

He finally wrapped up the interview by talking about his intentions to achieve Champions league qualification this season and how he will always give his best for the club and the team.

> My ambition is to achieve good things with the club, to get success in the Premier League and, I hope, return to the Champions League. To the supporters, the only thing I would like to say now is that I will always give my best for the club, for the team.
