# Chelsea backed to win trophies by Mikel

John Obi Mikel believes Antonio Conte will take the Blues back to winning ways, and believes he will definitely win trophies at Chelsea.

According to [The Express](https://www.express.co.uk/sport/football/719744/John-Obi-Mikel-Chelsea-Antonio-Conte-Premier-League-Title-Trophies-Gossip-News), Mikel insists Chelsea will compete for the major competitions under Conte despite a relatively shaky start to the season.

The Blues are currently seventh in the Premier League, with just five points separating them and Manchester City who are top.

Mikel is yet to feature for Chelsea in the league this season but is still full of praise for the Blues boss who, according to the midfielder, will win trophies for Chelsea after signing a three-year deal with the club.

He said:

> I can only see Chelsea winning trophies with this guy and hopefully we can achieve that. The manager knows what he wants, we are behind him, so I think think that everyone is looking forward to this season.

However the Nigerian international does recognise it will be a tough season given the amount of money and the calibre of players Chelsea’s rivals spent in the summer.

And the evidence of that has been there for all to see thus far during Chelsea’s defeats to both Arsenal and Liverpool respectively.

The midfielder remained positive, however, and believes there is no reason why Chelsea can’t win the league.

> It is going to be a very interesting season with the likes of Manchester City, Arsenal, Liverpool, Everton, everyone has spent a lot of money and it is going to be difficult. We want to be, at the end of the season, on top and if, we can win it, why not.
