# Monchengladbach want to extend Christensen’s loan deal

Officials at Borussia Monchengladbach want to extend the loan spell of Chelsea’s Andreas Christensen beyond the end of this season, according to a report in the [Evening Standard](https://www.standard.co.uk/sport/football/borussia-monchengladbach-hope-to-extend-andreas-christensen-loan-from-chelsea-a3379736.html).

The 20-year-old spent last season on loan at the German side and will stay there for the remainder of this campaign too. It’s been a great couple of years for the Danish defender as he’d gained the experience of playing every week in the Bundesliga and he’s also had a taste of Champions League football too.

Chelsea have made it clear to Gladbach that are not willing to sell Christensen but the German side are hopeful that they can convince the London-based side to let them keep him on loan for another season or two.

> I can’t imagine that Chelsea would sell him to us, but maybe we can loan him for another one or two years? If he was with us for three to four whole years, that would be a great story. Our pledge is that Andreas feels comfortable with us and always reaches his goals. If Chelsea cannot offer him that, we might have a chance to have him with us even longer.

Plenty of Chelsea fans have already identified Christensen as a possible replacement for John Terry but with the likes of Gary Cahill, David Luiz and the returning Kurt Zouma already on the books, game time could be limited for the Danish star. If that is the case, the Blues could very well let him stay out on loan for at least another year.
