# Traore criticises Chelsea’s youth system

Bertrand Traore has hit out at Chelsea’s youth policy after questioning why he was loaned out to Ajax this season, [the Evening Standard reports.](https://www.standard.co.uk/sport/football/youngsters-get-no-chance-at-chelsea-bertrand-traore-hits-out-at-blues-for-agreeing-ajax-loan-deal-a3386246.html#gallery)

The striker, who featured heavily for Antonio Conte in pre-season, has scored two goals in ten games for the Eredivisie side, but was left confused by the club’s decision to loan him out this season.

The 21-year-old said:

> I felt, and feel, that I am ready for Chelsea. I did not see the loan overall \[picture\]. Why did I play so much in pre-season? Why was I allowed to participate so often under Guus Hiddink \[last season\]? Why do young players get no real chance at Chelsea?

The Blues’ youth policy has come under intense scrutiny in recent years, and a youth player has not graduated from the academy and cemented a place in the senior side since John Terry in 1998.

Conte, however, looks set to change that and has given the likes of Nathaniel Chalobah, Ola Aina and Ruben Loftus-Cheek a number of opportunities to impress this season, whilst also including Dominic Solanke in the Blues’ match-day squads on a regular basis.

Despite his frustrations, though, Traore is determined to impress during his time in Holland.

> I want to win all there is to win with Ajax and to be important for the team.
