# Conte plotting January spending spree

According to a report from [The Telegraph](https://www.telegraph.co.uk/football/2016/11/07/chelsea-manager-antonio-conte-planning-spending-spree-in-spite-o/), Chelsea manager Antonio Conte is planning to go on a spending spree over the course of the next couple of transfer windows in an attempt to bolster his squad.

The news that Conte is plotting to carry out a shake-up of his Chelsea side is quite surprising given their recent form that has seen them emerge as genuine title contenders.

The Italian boss has got The Blues playing some excellent football in the new 3-4-3 setup. However, he is clearly not quite satisfied with the quality within the squad and is looking to improve it.

Chelsea sit in second place behind Liverpool at the top of the table but Conte is planning on spending big in January to force through an even more powerful title challenge.

Conte has not needed too big a squad for this season given that Chelsea are not competing in European competition for the campaign but they’re certainly on course to qualify for the Champions League next season, meaning that more reinforcements could be needed to cope with the frequency of games at the top level.

The report states that Conte is keen to return to his favoured 4-2-4 formation, so he will look to find the right tools to utilise his methods.
