# Hazard determined to make Ballon d’Or shortlist

Eden Hazard is determined to “reach a new level” and be named on the Ballon d’Or shortlist once again, the [Evening Standard reports.](https://www.standard.co.uk/sport/football/chelsea-star-eden-hazard-ill-do-everything-to-get-back-on-the-ballon-dor-shortlist-a3388721.html)

The Belgian has been in outstanding form for Chelsea this season and has already surpassed his goals tally from his poor 2015/16 campaign, after which he was left off the Ballon d’Or shortlist.

Hazard scored just six times in 43 appearances last season, but his double in Saturday evening’s 5-0 demolition of [Everton](https://readeverton.com/) took him to seven goals in just 14 outings this term.

And the 25-year-old has vowed to give his all for Chelsea and be named of the shortlist for the prestigious award once again.

> Last season I was not good, so for me it was normal that I was not on the list. But I want to come back on the list, and give everything to be on the list, not to be in the top 23 but to be in the top five. Yes, I want to reach that level.

Hazard finished eighth in the voting for the Ballon d’Or in 2015, and was also nominated in 2014, but was overlooked last season after his disappointing campaign under Jose Mourinho and Guus Hiddink.

And the attacker is still unsure as to why he performed so poorly last term.

> I don’t try to find excuses. But I was not at the top level, for the first time since I started my career. I have won a lot of trophies, individual as well. But last season I was maybe a little bit tired, mentally, physically. I don’t know.
