# Chelsea face setback in Isco chase

Chelsea have faced a major setback in their attempts to sign Real Madrid midfielder Isco, with Bayern Munich now seen as the clear favourites, according to [Don Balon](https://www.donbalon.com/noticia/detalle/41017/traicion-al-madrid--el-grande-de-europa-que-entra-en-la-pelea-por-isco).

The report says that Bayern have moved ahead of Chelsea and Tottenham in the race for Isco’s signature – with Bayern looking like his most likely destination in January.

Isco’s current Madrid contract expires in 2018, with his future up in the air at present.

This has attracted the attentions of Carlo Ancelotti and Bayern Munich – who are looking to steal a march over Chelsea and Tottenham to land the Spaniard.

The report claims that Isco could be signed for a cut-price fee in January due to his contract situation, and this is what has attracted the likes of Chelsea and Bayern to the potential transfer.

However, Chelsea could be usurped by Bayern – who are stepping up their efforts in an attempt to persuade Isco to move to Germany.
