# Chelsea eyeing Verratti move

According to [the Mirror](https://www.mirror.co.uk/sport/football/news/chelsea-want-marco-verratti-boost-9228821), Chelsea are eyeing up a move for Paris Saint-Germain midfielder Marco Verratti.

The report claims that, despite Chelsea’s excellent form, Antonio Conte is keen to strengthen his side significantly in the January window.

Conte sees Verratti as the perfect midfielder to strengthen his midfield and boost his options. N’Golo Kante and Nemanja Matic have been superb in holding midfield this season, but Conte is looking to add competition to his side.

The report also says that Chelsea will allow Jon Obi Mikel to move on at the end of the season. His contract expires next year and the Blues have no intention of prolonging his stay at the club.

Conte is also keen to move Cesc Fabregas on. The Spaniard is not in his long-term plans, with Verratti as a possible replacement for the former Barcelona and Arsenal playmaker.

Chelsea could make a move for the Italian when the window reopens in just under two months time.
