# Thorgan Hazard unaware of buy-back clause

Borussia Monchengladbach midfielder Thorgan Hazard says he is unaware of any buy-back clause Chelsea may have for him, according to the [Daily Star](https://www.dailystar.co.uk/sport/football/562432/Thorgan-Eden-Hazard-Chelsea-transfer-news).

Chelsea signed Thorgan, Eden’s brother, from French side RC Lens in 2012 for a mere £425k before immediately sending him on a two-year loan to Zlute Waregem where he began to make a name for himself.

Scoring 21 goals and contributing 29 assists in 90 appearances for Waregem, Borussia Monchengladbach were eager to bring Thorgan in on loan for the 2014/15 season. After a hugely successful campaign, the Bundesliga side signed the Belgian for £6.8m.

When announcing the deal, Chelsea stated that they had a buy-back clause on the 23-year-old which they could use in the future, but Thorgan says he is unaware of such an agreement.

“To be honest, I am not aware of this repurchase option,” Thorgan told German newspaper [Express](https://www.express.de/sport/fussball/borussia-moenchengladbach/kauf-option---thorgan-hazard-weiss-von-nichts-25095596).

“I don’t know anything about this story once published in a paper.”

Supporting these claims, Gladbach sporting director Max Eberl added: “There is no clause.

“But we do not need to make any secrets: If we get a player from Chelsea, then Chelsea has always the possibility to think about that player in whatever form, but actually not \[an\] active \[clause\].”

Eden has always been supportive of his brother and is an admirer of his game and would relish the opportunity to play together at club level after playing together for the first time professionally when Thorgan came on as a substitute against Holland last week.
