# No regrets for Willian after Spurs snub

Despite failing to earn himself as much game time as he certainly would have liked under new boss Antonio Conte, Brazilian midfielder Willian has revealed that his dream of playing for Chelsea was the foundation behind his decision to turn down a move to [rivals Tottenham](https://www.dailymail.co.uk/sport/football/article-4013646/Willian-admits-snubbing-Tottenham-fulfil-Chelsea-dream-best-moment-life-said-m-sorry-don-t-care.html) back in 2013.

The former Shakhtar Donetsk man was on the verge of signing a contract at White Hart Lane from Russian club Anzhi Makhachkala, and even underwent a medical with the North Londoners, before Jose Mourinho and Roman Abramovich stepped in. The Brazilian was quickly on his way across the Capital, eventually signing a five-year-deal with Chelsea.

Having gone on to become a real fans favourite at Stamford Bridge, winning the club’s Player of the year and Players’ Player of the year awards last season, William has certainly adapted quickly to life in England. Three goals from ten appearances for Chelsea so far this season may not seem like a bad ratio, however the majority of his appearances have been from the bench, with Victor Moses and Pedro preferred to the 28-year-old.

However, having performed admirably when coming off the bench at the Etihad Stadium against Manchester City last weekend, Willian could well be in line for a rare start against West Bromwich Albion this weekend. With Chelsea sitting pretty at the top of the Premier League table, it comes as little surprise that bookmakers [Betway](https://sports.betway.com/#/soccer/) have Costa and Co. as the overwhelming favourites for victory in the football betting market.

Willian could well have more rivalry for an attacking birth at Chelsea if Conte gets his way, with the Italian reportedly interested in bringing [Alexis Sanchez](https://www.mirror.co.uk/sport/football/transfer-news/chelsea-want-arsenals-alexis-sanchez-9412446) across London.

The former Juventus and Italy boss continues to search for a striking partner for Diego Costa, and with the Chilean international seemingly unconvinced by signing a new contract at Arsenal, Chelsea have been linked with a big-money move for the former Barcelona man. Although it seems like a long shot at this stage, should Sanchez leave North London in the near future, Betway have installed Chelsea as the favourites to sign him.

Meanwhile, Conte is also reportedly set to raid the Italian market, with Fiorentina’s Milan Badelj heavily linked with a move to the Bridge. The 27-year-old could well replace Cesc Fabregas, who despite his excellent performance against Manchester City, has been on the receiving end of major interest from around Europe.
