# Alvaro Morata expects to join Chelsea this summer

Real Madrid striker Alvaro Morata has told some of his closest friends that he expects to make a move to Chelsea in the summer, this according to Matt Law of [The Telegraph](https://www.telegraph.co.uk/football/2017/02/03/chelsea-steal-march-arsenal-alvaro-morata-tells-friends-expects/).

The Spanish international is not first choice at Madrid, instead he often finds himself on the bench with Karim Benzema getting the nod to start most weeks.

Diego Costa’s future at Stamford Bridge looks uncertain at best and Morata looks to be Antonio Conte’s preferred replacement. The Spaniard is apparently keen to leave the European Champions in search of regular first-team football and would be happy to play for Conte once again after having so much success when the pair were at Juventus.

Morata, who was the subject of a transfer bid by Chelsea in the summer, has apparently told friends that he expects to be playing at Stamford Bridge next season, but for that to happen, Diego Costa would have to be sold as Morata is looking for first team football which he probably wouldn’t get if Costa was part of the squad.
