# Conte eyeing summer swoop for Lukaku

Antonio Conte remains focused on bringing in another top striker to Chelsea in the summer and according to [Yahoo!](https://uk.sports.yahoo.com/news/exclusive-chelsea-plan-summer-spending-spree-with-romelu-lukaku-and-joao-cancelo-on-the-radar-143512509.html) Romelu Lukaku remains his top summer target.

Back in the summer, Conte outlined his desire to bring the Belgian striker back to Stamford Bridge but after being priced out of a move they pressed ahead and completed a £33m deal to sign Michy Batshuayi from Marseille.

Last month, there was talk that Diego Costa was interested in a move to China and following his training ground bust-up with Conte the transfer did look likely at one stage but the pair did make up relatively soon.

Chelsea were again eyeing a move for Lukaku last month should Costa have left the club but have put any deal to sign Lukaku off until the summer.

The Blues are seeking €150m to sell Diego Costa in the summer, which they are open to doing for a large enough fee and their main aim would be to re-sign Lukaku who is also open to a return.

Andre Villas-Boas signed a teenage Lukaku from Anderlecht in 2011 for a reported £18m but he spent only one full season in the first-team, failing to score in 12 appearances and then spent the next two seasons out on loan with West Brom and Everton prior to a £30m permanent transfer to Goodison Park in July 2014.

Since arriving on Merseyside, Lukaku has developed into one of the Premier League’s top strikers and has netted 16 goals in 23 appearances this season. Still only 23, Lukaku has the potential to get a lot better also.
