# Manchester United to try at sign Willian in the summer

Willian hasn’t always been a first-team regular for Chelsea this season but he remains an integral part of the squad at Stamford Bridge.

Jose Mourinho was the man who brought him to the club and he was looking to sign him for Manchester United in the summer, but the deal didn’t materialise despite being close at one stage.

As reported by [CalcioMercato](https://www.calciomercato.com/en/news/chelsea-star-admits-he-was-close-to-joining-manchester-united-83456), Willian who was speaking on *Globoesporte*, admitted there was an offer on the table from United.

> \[There was an offer\] from Manchester United, because Mourinho is there too. From other clubs I do not know, but there are always some things on the internet. But I’m glad to hear that there are clubs that admire my work.

The [Daily Star](https://www.dailystar.co.uk/sport/football/586884/Man-United-Chelsea-Jose-Mourinho-WIllian) are reporting that Mourinho will try again for the Brazilian winger in the summer and presumably the 28-year-old would be a regular in the starting XI at Old Trafford.

Playing a reserve role doesn’t sit well with Willian who wants to be playing every week.

“No player likes to start the game at the bank. To be honest, I do not like it either. I like to be playing all the time.”
