# Chelsea holding off on Courtois contract talks

Chelsea have reportedly been holding off on their contract talks with Thibaut Courtois for over a year now.

According to a report from the [Evening Standard](https://www.standard.co.uk/sport/football/chelsea-contract-talks-with-thibaut-courtois-on-hold-for-a-year-despite-real-madrid-interest-a3478061.html), the Blues have not discussed a new deal at Stamford Bridge with the Belgium international for a year now, despite interest from elsewhere.

It’s claimed that La Liga giants Real Madrid are keen to bring him back to Spain as he continues to impress between the sticks for Chelsea, but Antonio Conte is not keen to let him leave.

The report claims that the reasoning behind the failure to open talks in recent times with Courtois regarding a new deal is because Conte is looking for his side to turn their full focus towards seeing out the Premier League campaign and coming out as winners.

Courtois is currently on a contract worth £120,000 per week according to the Evening Standard and has two years remaining on his current deal.
