# Chelsea keen to swoop for Ajax defender Sanchez

Chelsea are reportedly considering a surprise swoop for Ajax defender Davinson Sanchez.

According to a report from Spanish news outlet [Sport](https://www.sport.es/es/noticias/barca/chelsea-los-equipos-premier-competidores-duros-para-barcelona-6046892), the Blues are keen to jump ahead in the chase to sign the Colombian as interest in his signature builds ahead of the summer transfer window.

Barcelona were reported to be in pole position to land Sanchez but with Chelsea now emerging as a serious contender for the young defender to consider, he could very well have a big choice on his hands.

Sanchez has been a key figure for Ajax this season and has been impressive throughout the course of the campaign, playing a big part in their journey to the Europa League final against Manchester United, which will be played on Wednesday.

Although he is under contract to Ajax until the summer of 2021, Sanchez may find it hard to turn down offers from clubs of such calibre, with Chelsea and Barca keeping a close eye on him.
