# Traore ‘hopeful’ of being Chelsea first team member

Bertrand Traore told the [Evening Standard](https://www.standard.co.uk/sport/football/bertrand-traore-hopeful-he-will-be-part-of-chelsea-firstteam-squad-next-season-a3548976.html) that he hopes he’s done enough during his Ajax loan spell to secure a place in Chelsea’s first team next season.

The [Metro](https://metro.co.uk/2017/05/25/chelseas-bertrand-traore-reveals-when-hell-make-decision-on-his-future-6663129/) reported that it is unclear whether the youngster will be part of the Premier League champion’s plans, with some big-name signings being linked with the club.

The 21-year-old signed for Chelsea back in 2013 but didn’t make his first-team debut until the 2015/16 season.

Last summer the Burkina Faso international was awarded a new three-year deal with the Blues, before joining Dutch side Ajax on a season-long loan deal to get regular game time.

Traore scored 14 goals in 43 appearances for the Europa League runners-up this season.

When asked whether he was planning to remain at Chelsea next season, Traore answered: “That’s my hope. That was the key when I came to Ajax – play as many (games) as I could, do well, and try to go back to Chelsea. I think I had a great season.”

So far Traore has just four goals in 16 senior appearances for Chelsea, but is hoping to add to that tally by remaining at the club next season.
