# Everton uncertain over completing Baba Rahman loan deal

The futures of many of Chelsea’s on-loan talents remains uncertain and that’s the same with left-back, Baba Rahman.

After arriving from Augsburg in the summer of 2015 for a reported £17m, Rahman struggled to cement a place in the first-team, making just 23 appearances for the Blues and providing two assists in the process.

Antonio Conte decided it was best to send the 22-year-old defender out on loan to play some regular football and he returned to the Bundesliga with Schalke but he suffered an ACL injury around in the winter and missed the second half of the season.

Rahman was expected to recover in time for the start of the 2017/18 season and there were a number of clubs interested in signing him, including Everton and Schalke.

Everton’s proposed move for the left-back now hangs in the balance according to [Ghana Soccer Net](https://ghanasoccernet.com/everton-move-for-chelsea-defender-baba-rahman-hangs-in-the-balance) as he’s suffered a setback in his rehab from the knee injury he sustained at the African Cup of Nations.

Schalke have also said that any move to re-sign Rahman depends on his health and fitness and given this untimely setback on the road to recovery, it remains to be seen whether he will be fit in time for the new season.

If he doesn’t get fit in time for the new season, it’s likely that he will stay at Stamford Bridge and compete for a role in the first-team squad.
