# Chelsea retaining interest in Mendy

Chelsea are reportedly still holding a keen interest in Monaco left-back Benjamin Mendy.

According to a report from [West London Sport](https://www.westlondonsport.com/chelsea/chelsea-interested-mendy-despite-sandro-link), the Frenchman is one of the defenders the Blues are considering moving in for this summer.

It’s been reported in recent times that Chelsea are looking to land Juventus left-back Alex Sandro, but it now looks as though Mendy is still a name that Antonio Conte is keen on.

Mendy enjoyed a simply stunning season with Monaco and played a big part in helping them to secure the Ligue 1 title ahead of PSG.

He’s established himself as one of Europe’s most potent left-sided defenders and is sure to be high in demand this summer. His displays have earned him a regular place in France’s starting line-up.

However, one off-putting factor for Conte in his reported pursuit of Mendy is that Monaco currently value him at around £40m – a fee that is unlikely to be paid by any club this summer, let alone by Chelsea.
