# Chelsea keen to beat West Ham to Traore signing

Chelsea are reportedly planning a surprise move to sign Middlesbrough winger Adama Traore, despite West Ham being in pole position to land him.

According to a report from Spanish news outlet [Sport](https://www.sport.es/es/noticias/premier-league/adama-traore-puede-ser-fichaje-sorpresa-chelsea-6115735), the wide man is the subject of plenty of interest this summer and although West Ham are poised to land him, Chelsea are keen on hijacking the deal.

Traore showed glimpses of quality last season for Boro but could not prevent them from being relegated, with Steve Agnew’s side finishing in the bottom three.

The former Barcelona winger impressed with his direct nature and undeniably incredible physical attributes, but often left a lot to be desired in terms of technical quality.

It had been reported previously that Chelsea’s London rivals West Ham had agreed a fee worth around £8m for Traore but a move to Stamford Bridge may tempt the Spaniard to reconsider.

The 21-year-old looks set for a return to the Premier League, regardless of where that may be.
