# Chelsea target Chamberlain to leave Arsenal

Antonio Conte wants to add a couple of wide players to his squad this summer and [Chelsea are believed to be keen](https://readchelsea.com/2017/06/19/chelsea-keen-to-sign-alex-oxlade-chamberlain/) on signing Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain from Arsenal, and now they could be one step closer to securing his signature.

As reported by the [Daily Mail](https://www.dailymail.co.uk/sport/football/article-4635064/Transfer-news-LIVE-Man-United-Arsenal-Chelsea-latest.html), [Arsenal](https://readarsenal.com/) are ready to sell the England international this summer as they look to significantly reduce the club’s wage bill after the [Premier League](https://readpl.com/) introduced new cost control measures which kick in at the start of next season.

With his contract up at the end of next season, Oxlade-Chamberlain had been in talks with Arsenal over extending his deal at the Emirates but they appear to have stalled.

The former Southampton youngster impressed for Arsenal in a right wing-back during the second half of the season which would appeal to Chelsea who employ a similar formation.

While it’s reported that [Liverpool are likely to sign the winger](https://readliverpoolfc.com/2017/06/23/liverpool-likely-sign-oxlade-chamberlain/) in a £25m deal, now that Arsenal are ready to part ways with the versatile midfielder, Chelsea could firm up their interest and submit a bid of their own for him.
