# Chelsea set to sign teenage star Ethan Ampadu

Chelsea are set to complete the signing of teenage midfielder Ethan Ampadu from Exeter City.

As Exeter confirmed on their [official website](https://www.exetercityfc.co.uk/news/2017/july/ethan-ampadu-signs-for-chelsea/), the 16-year-old has decided to make the move to Stamford Bridge and all that’s left to agree is the fee that Chelsea will pay.

The teenager broke into Exeter’s first team last season but as he chose not to sign scholarship forms at St James Park, he was free to talk to any interested club and after discussions with various teams, he’s decided to make the switch to Chelsea.

As he had not signed those forms, Exeter are not entitled to a transfer fee, however, they are entitled to compensation and it is now up to the two clubs to agree what the compensatory figure will be and if they can’t, the amount will be decided by a tribunal.

Ampadu has been one of the most talked-about young players in the country ever since he made his full debut aged 15 so Chelsea have done well to get him ahead of other interested parties.
