# Antonio Conte’s future in doubt after Chelsea’s lack of signings

Antonio Conte’s future at Chelsea is in doubt, according to a report from John Cross of the [Mirror](https://www.mirror.co.uk/sport/football/transfer-news/furious-antonio-contes-chelsea-future-10750992).

Cross says that the Chelsea boss has grown massively frustrated at the lack of transfer business at the club this summer.

The Italian was already annoyed at the club’s inability to sign Alexis Sanchez and Virgil van Dijk whilst deals to bring in Alex Sandro and Tiemoue Bakayoko are still not completed and progress seems slow.

However, it is apparently the situation with Romelu Lukaku that has the Chelsea boss “fuming”. The manger was very keen to get the Belgian striker back to Stamford Bridge but they look like they have now been gazumped by Manchester United, who have apparently agreed a fee with Everton.

Cross states that whilst other outlets were unsure that Conte wanted Lukaku, he and his paper believe that he was desperate to make him the replacement for Diego Costa.

Conte does have a history of shock exits from successful clubs and Chelsea fans will be desperate for their club to do all they can to keep the Italian in the Stamford Bridge dugout..
