# Morata happy to be signing for Chelsea

Alvaro Morata has said that he is happy to be signing for Chelsea, after it was announced that the Blues have agreed a deal to sign him.

The club have confirmed that they have had an offer accepted by Real Madrid, with Morata now set to discuss personal terms and undergo a medical.

Morata will cost Chelsea an initial £58m, before potential add-ons. This will make him the club’s record signing.

Morata was heavily linked with a move to [Manchester United](https://readmanutd.com/) but the move broke down as the Old Trafford side opted to sign Romelu Lukaku.

The former [Everton](https://readeverton.com/) forward – Lukaku – was a top target for Antonio Conte but the signing of Morata looks to have eased his disappointment at missing out on the Belgian.

Speaking to [Marca,](https://www.marca.com/futbol/real-madrid/2017/07/19/596fb701268e3e2c418b4611.html) Morata said this:

> I am very happy, God willing, tomorrow I will be at Chelsea, a club that has always wanted me.

> I’m not disappointed about anything, I’ve won four titles here \[with Real Madrid\], but now I only think of putting on the Chelsea shirt.

> I want to grow up, if I didn’t I wouldn’t have left. I’d like to thank Zidane and wish him luck for the upcoming season.

> Thanks to all the Madridistas who supported me. I will always wish Madrid the best. The last time I wore this shirt was in Cibeles.

Morata, 24, now looks set to complete a move to Stamford Bridge and become Chelsea’s fourth summer signing.

Willy Caballero, Antonio Rudiger and Tiemoue Bakayoko have already joined the club this month.

The Spanish international, Morata, is set to replace Diego Costa – who looks like he is on his way back to [Atletico Madrid](https://readlaliga.com/).
