# Chelsea submit late bid to hijack Sanches from AC Milan

Premier League champions Chelsea have made a late bid to sign Bayern Munich midfielder Renato Sanches on loan as manager Antonio Conte looks to beat Serie A giants AC Milan to his signature, according to a report in the [Telegraph](https://www.telegraph.co.uk/football/2017/07/28/chelsea-make-late-bid-sign-bayern-munich-star-renato-sanches/).

The Italian boss has been monitoring the situation of the Portuguese youngster and has now made an inquiry to Bayern about his availability on loan as Chelsea prepare for the new season.

The 19-year-old will be allowed a loan move this summer after failing to impress at the Bundesliga champions following his big money move from Benfica last summer, with AC Milan strongly interested.

The German club want Sanches to get first team action and they know he is limited at the Allianz Arena which is why they have made him available on loan with an option to buy, which has sent some of Europe’s biggest club into a frenzy.

Conte is keen to strengthen his squad in all areas before the upcoming season as he attempts to successfully defend the Premier League crown as well as challenge with Europe’s best teams in the UEFA Champions League.

It is understood that following Chelsea’s entertaining pre-season loss to Bayern, Conte and Carlo Ancelotti discussed a possible move for Sanches.

The only problem for Bayern is seeing whether Sanches would make the first team at the London club as they want his value to remain high ahead of a sale.
