# Conte plays down Hazard to Barcelona rumours

Chelsea boss Antonio Conte has laughed off rumours linking Belgian playmaker Eden Hazard to Spanish La Liga giants Barcelona as the Catalan club look for a replacement for Neymar, according to a report on [West London Sport](https://www.westlondonsport.com/chelsea/conte-laughs-off-reports-linking-hazard-barcelona).

Conte has already confirmed that his star man Hazard will miss the start of the new Premier League campaign due to ankle surgery but has dismissed the reports linking him with a move away from Stamford Bridge.

> We are trying to buy players, not sell! Otherwise the number is always less and we are in trouble.
>
> These are rumours. Eden is very happy to stay with us and to play with Chelsea – to recover from his injury and then start the season with us.

The Belgian is happy at the club and is likely to be the main player for the London side as they look to successfully defend their Premier League crown as well as challenge against Europe’s finest sides in the UEFA Champions League.

Hazard is keen to win the competition and at the moment is not looking for a move as he is settled.

The Blues will take on Arsenal in the Community Shield for the first piece of silverware this season.
