# Chelsea ready to up offer for Chamberlain to £40m

It’s clear that Antonio Conte is getting increasingly more desperate this summer in his bid to bring in several new faces before the transfer window closes at the end of the month.

Still visibly short of wing-back options, Conte is [ready to up his offer for Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain to £40m](https://www.dailystar.co.uk/sport/football/638104/Chelsea-transfer-news-Alex-Oxlade-Chamberlain-40m-bid-for-Arsenal-star) in an effort to convince Arsenal to part ways with the England international.

Chamberlain has just one year left on his contract and isn’t close to signing a new deal amid interest from Liverpool, Manchester United and the Blues.

Arsene Wenger is desperate to keep Chamberlain, along with fellow contract rebels Alexis Sanchez and Mesut Ozil at the club despite their contract situations as he looks to break back into the Top Four this season.

It’s believed that the former Southampton academy graduate is looking for a serious pay rise. Currently earning somewhere near £65,000-a-week at Arsenal, Chamberlain wants his next contract to be in excess of £100,000-a-week, whether it be at the Emirates or elsewhere.

Even though there’s interest from Liverpool and Manchester United, Chelsea seem willing to pay the most for the versatile Arsenal midfielder who can play either wing-back position.
