# Drinkwater excited to reunite with Kante

New Chelsea signing Danny Drinkwater has admitted that he is excited to be reuniting with N’Golo Kante for the Blues.

Drinkwater’s move to Chelsea was confirmed in the early hours of Friday morning, with an agreement having been reached with Leicester over a transfer worth in the region of £30 million.

The England international knows Kante from the pair’s time at Leicester, where they enjoyed immense success. The duo formed an excellent partnership in the midfield in the 2015/16 season, and were fundamental parts of the Foxes’ shock Premier League triumph.

As quoted by the [Evening Standard](https://www.standard.co.uk/sport/football/leicester-chelsea-danny-drinkwater-ngolo-kante-reunion-targets-titles-top-lad-a3625866.html), Drinkwater lavished praise on the enigmatic French midifelder.

> I played with N’Golo for a season and there was not really a game I didn’t enjoy playing next to him. I am looking forward hopefully to carrying on where we left off.

> I think we hit it off from the first game and after that we did not really lose. He is a top lad, the most down-to-earth person you will meet. I can’t see him changing much and I am looking forward to meeting him again.

Drinkwater will be well aware that he will not be able to walk straight into Antonio Conte’s starting line-up, though. Tiemoue Bakayoko will be hoping to cement his place in Chelsea’s midfield following a big-money move from Monaco. Along with this, Cesc Fabregas has enjoyed a positive start to the season.
