# Mbappe played for Chelsea as a youngster

PSG forward Kylian Mbappe has revealed that he played for Chelsea in a trial game as a youngster, and met first-team players at the time.

Mbappe says that he was with Chelsea at the age of 11 after he was scouted playing amateur football in France.

[Speaking to The Telegraph,](https://www.telegraph.co.uk/football/2017/09/06/kylian-mbappe-arsenal-wanted-wanted-go-home-psg/) Mbappe said this:

> It was a wonderful experience. Chelsea was the first great club, the first big club, that I went to visit. So it was a real discovery for me.

> We played against Charlton, I think, and we won maybe seven or eight nil.

> I also got to meet some of the first-team players – (Didier) Drogba, (Florent) Malouda – the French-speaking ones and took some pictures with them.

The move clearly did not work out in the long-run, but he has certainly made a name for himself since.

The forward completed a mega move to PSG during the summer transfer window, joining on a season-long loan with the option to buy for €180m.

PSG presumably signed Mbappe on loan to avoid financial fair play regulations, having already signed Neymar from PSG for €222m earlier in the window.

The official permanent transfer next summer will make him the most expensive striker in history, unless, of course, a striker is bought for more than that in the meantime.
