# Scott receives promotion to first-team squad

Chelsea youngster Kyle Scott has been awarded a surprise promotion to the club’s first-team squad, reports [Metro](https://metro.co.uk/2017/09/13/kyle-scott-added-to-chelsea-first-team-squad-and-handed-no-36-shirt-6924911/).

The promising young talent has been catching the eye of Antonio Conte in recent times with his hard work, and has earned himself the opportunity to play alongside the Blues’ stars on a regular basis.

Scott has been given a squad number for the season ahead, too. He will wear the number 36 shirt, and will be itching to get involved with the first-team squad’s matchday preparations should the opportunity arise.

The 19-year-old joined Chelsea at a young age from Southampton’s academy, and has gone from strength to strength since progressing through the youth ranks with the Blues.

Predominantly a central midfielder, Scott is somewhat likely to go out on loan in January. He was close to securing a temporary move away from Stamford Bridge on deadline day, but his proposed switch to Reading broke down as Chelsea’s big-money move for Danny Drinkwater temporarily held up.

Scott has been included in Chelsea’s squad for the Champions League this season, further signalling how highly Conte rates the young prospect.

Conte is sure to rotate his Blues side in the coming weeks given the hectic schedule he must contest with, and Scott will be hoping to give the Italian a selection headache.
