# Conte trusts Christensen to step up with Luiz suspended

Chelsea manager Antonio Conte will turn to Andreas Christensen to fill the void left by David Luiz, who will miss the Blues’ next three games through suspension.

The Brazilian was shown a straight red-card by referee Michael Oliver after a high challenge on Arsenal left back Sead Kolasinac and therefore, he is unavailable for the League Cup game against Nottingham Forest, as well as the Premier League clashes with Stoke City and Manchester City.

Whilst speaking at his post-match press conference after the 0-0 draw with the Gunners, Conte was asked if he thinks the club has enough depth to cope with the loss of Luiz and he specifically name-checked the Danish international.

He said:

> Yes. Christensen is a very young player but I think he is a good player and I trust him. Now he has the possibility to play and he has to prepare very well to play.

Whether we see Christensen in all three games remains to be seen as Conte could choose to rest him against Forest so that he is 100% ready to face both Stoke and the high-flying Man City.
