# FIFA to investigate Chelsea’s youth transfer dealings

Premier League side Chelsea are going to be investigated by world governing body FIFA for the third time in eight years for the same offence – breaching their rules in regards to signing minors, according to a report from the [Daily Mail](https://www.dailymail.co.uk/sport/football/article-4900342/FIFA-probe-Chelsea-youth-signings.html).

FIFA have launched an inquiry into Chelsea’s dealings with signing foreign under 18 players.

When asked about the details of the investigation FIFA, via a spokesman, gave very little away:

> As the investigation is on-going no further comment is possible for the time being.

They will carry out a thorough investigation and have a history of imposing transfer bans, as Spanish La Liga side Atletico Madrid received a ban until January 2018 for their breaching their rules regarding signing minors.

The London club were banned for two transfer windows back in 2009 when the signing of Gael Kakuta was investigated.

Additionally, the Blues were also investigated by FIFA over the transfer of Bertrand Traore who was pictured playing for the club when he was 16 before he had received international clearance.

Premier League clubs have been heavily punished recently for the tapping up of youngsters, the two major clubs being Manchester City and Liverpool, but Chelsea are confident that their punishment – if any, will not be severe.

A Chelsea spokesman commented:

> Chelsea FC complies with all FIFA Statutes and Regulations when recruiting players.
