# Morata joined Chelsea because of Conte’s belief in him

Chelsea boss Antonio Conte appears to have a particularly strong relationship with Alvaro Morata.

The Italian boss has waxed lyrical about the Spanish international since his move to Stamford Bridge, and it appears as though the feeling is mutual.

Morata, as quoted by [Sky Sports](https://www.skysports.com/football/news/11668/11058935/alvaro-morata-says-antonio-contes-faith-was-behind-chelsea-move), has claimed that the fundamental reason that he joined the Blues from Real Madrid in the summer was because of Conte, and his belief in his abilities.

> I came to Chelsea because one club and one coach believed in me. Now I have all of these things and I’m very happy. Was it a big move for me to become the first-choice striker? It’s the most important thing.

The former Juventus striker has been in sublime form since joining the club, and has been particularly impressive recently. He netted in Chelsea’s win over Atletico Madrid in the Champions League on Wednesday, and also notched a hat-trick in the 4-0 demolition of Stoke last Saturday.

Morata is filling the boots of the departed Diego Costa well at this stage, and will be keen to maintain this level of performance.

He’ll be looking to make the difference when the Blues welcome Manchester City to Stamford Bridge this weekend.

> It’s another big match, another big Premier League match. It’s very important for us before the international break to take the three points.
